When life upsets us, the mind wants to solve

When life upsets us, the mind wants to “solve” what it considers a problem.  In the process we are taken on a mental trip of upset, drama and unsolvable conundrums. The feelings that are below the surface of the mind’s drama are actually a better tool to unlock the door of the problem and bring us balance.  Again, these feelings are not a problem to solve, they are an experience that should be allowed to unfold within us. As we feel our feelings and they unfold we find ourselves becoming balanced; we become completed in such a pleasant and vast way it defies description.  Enjoy the journey.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Presence don’t leave home without it

Presence— don’t leave home without it. Funny phrase eh? Most of us go out the door to begin the day and are leading with our heads. We forget about our bodies and the associated sensations as they seem too subtle or too much trouble to pay attention to. In reality we really should allow ourselves to feel throughout our bodies as the day begins. In this way we arrive at our destination fully integrated. We are more effective in the work place and we connect with our coworkers as the day unfolds in balance and harmony. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Every experience in our world

Every experience and each thing we interact with in our world is part of the definition of self, of what we call “me”.  Many of these things and experiences seem limiting.  They don’t have to be, but through habit we stay in the same old rut.  Mind says: stay with what is familiar, ignore the feelings within you that something is wrong, and you will be safe.  The problem is that we are not safe, we are only used to the rut we have been experiencing.  When we allow feeling to join the mix, we gradually remove the walls of our old ruts and we again become free to live in balance and harmony.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Balance, where does it come from?

Balance, where does it come from?  Harmony– when it occurs within us we realize who we are.  We are simply a being, with nothing pushing us, nothing that “HAS” to be done.  Simply being, where every decision is an unfolding and every option brings us an opportunity to be even more.  We encourage you to feel.  It is truly the road to being wholly present.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Our lives are filled with doubts

Our lives are filled with doubts and uncertainties.  Let’s pretend, what if every thing you see brings you wonder?  What if every experience you have is laced with feeling?  What if each conflicting thought is like a box that isolates us from those feelings…the source of all true joy and motivation?  These feelings are also where we need to go in order to return balance to our lives, for as we give ourselves permission to feel, the mind experiences peace, often for the first time since the doubts began. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Learning to Heal

So what does it mean to heal?  Healing is about physical well being, emotional balance and a sense of presence and balance in all that we do.  This is surprisingly easy to attain when we learn to let ourselves feel.  Feeling is more basic than the emotional gamut of the particular drama that we find ourselves in.  It is about the sensations that we call our feelings and when these are allowed to be experienced and naturally evolve as they are experienced, balance is what we get.  This now leads to greater emotional harmony and that in turn leads to greater health.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Feeling

“You’ll be fine. You’re 25. Feeling [unsure] and lost is part of your path. Don’t avoid it. See what those feelings are showing you and use it. take a breath. You’ll be okay. Even if you don’t feel okay all the time.” —Louis C.K., Untitled 1

This is true no matter ones age (though at 25 it is fabulous advice).  The thing is the mind will still work it and worry it.  Why does it do that?  It is how we have been trained: to analyze, rationalize and to push aside those feeling.  Now, if we truly allow ourselves to feel, to let those feelings unwind, the mind relaxes and an integration of body and mind occurs.  The feeling of being lost goes away and we come into balance and feel great. ~Alain & Jody Herriott
