Life as comparison

Life is often about comparisons. For example, this experience is better than that one, this food tastes better than that one and so on. The Tao te Ching also talks about this but relates to it on the level of consciousness and the art of being a balanced whole person. Number 2 of this book starts with:

“When people see some things as beautiful, other things become ugly. When people see some things as good, others things become bad.”

“Being and non-being create each other. Difficult and easy support each other.  Long and short define each other….”

To move past this active mind comparison it goes on to say:

“The master acts without doing anything….”

It goes on with this attitude that there is no need to compare; simply realize we are complete within ourselves without the need to compare and argue about most everything.  If we take the time to feel our frustrations, doubts and fears and allow them to unfold in the manner that The Wonder Method is about, then balance is the result.  Enjoy the journey. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Work with Being

In number eleven of the Tao te Ching the last line says:  “We work with being, but non-being is what we use.” Realize we each come from this special place of potential; it is infinite in variety and all we need to do is let it lead us in our lives. It will carry us like a benevolent parent, to a beautiful creation that arises all around us. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Being and non Being

We join spokes together in a wheel, but it is the center hole that makes the wagon move.

We shape clay into a pot, but it is the emptiness inside that holds whatever we want.

We hammer wood for a house, but it is the inner space that makes it livable.

We work with being, but non-being is what we use.

In our life we are always looking at what is around us and believe what we see there is what is useful.  Yet as the quote tells us how we choose to use something can be viewed from a very different perspective.  We can choose to draw from innovation, from a place of inspiration that moves well beyond the norm and many will say amazing, yet we know that living in that quiet space of non-being all possibilities exist.  Enjoy ~Alain & Jody Herriott
