Inner peace

“If you have inner peace, no one can force you to be a slave to the outer reality.” Shri Chinmoy

So here we are, experiencing inner peace.  Yet we always have a choice, to be swayed by the world around us or to unwind our fears and embrace an even deeper sense of who we really are.  We will continually evolve when we exercise our ability to feel. —Alain & Jody Herriott

Suffering is not good

“Suffering is not good for the soul, unless it teaches you how to stop suffering. That is its purpose.” —Seth, Seth Speaks: The Eternal Validity of the Soul

Suffering then is the arrow that points the way to eliminate it.  Feeling the suffering (rather than being swallowed by it) gives it the opportunity to unwind, and through this act set us free. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Life is one

Life is one percent what happens to you, and ninety-nine percent how you respond to it.” — Shubhra Krishan

At every point in our day we have options.  We can react with fear or an attacking response to a situation.  Most of us respond in this way; it is an almost unconscious response.  Or we can choose to wake up, become aware of who we are and respond from a centered place.  We find ourselves in harmony and we break the cycle of aberration that is the usual response of our society.  We suggest you be willing to BE.  It is worth every moment of the effort it takes to achieve.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

This is why we need to feel

She continued, “Western man has gone to the extremes with his intellectualism, it divides and keeps people separate. Man then becomes a destroyer because he manages and copes, rather than letting the perpetuating force of the Divinity flow through him for right action.” Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona, Hawaiian healer

This is why we need to feel.  When separated from our feelings the intellect becomes lost.  Always searching, it never stops nattering away, talking to itself like a crazy person who has been too long in solitary confinement.  The mind actually craves the inclusion of feeling but it has been taught to fear it.  Feeling is what gives it wholeness and integration with the “perpetuating force of the Divine flow for right action.”  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

I must not fear

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.” —Frank Herbert, Dune

This was written quite a few years ago for the science fiction crowd.  It is fabulous.  If we change the second and third lines to “I will feel my fear”, and “…when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to feel its path”, we have the Wonder Method at its best.  Enjoy   ~Alain & Jody Herriott

I stopped

“I stopped hating and started just being. My whole life, I had been the most defensive person you’d meet, unable to tolerate any criticism. But now I started listening and being.” — Anthony Kiedis, Scar Tissue

This is about as true as it gets.  The majority of our lives, at least for most of us, is about fighting the situations that we find ourselves in.  We carry our anger like a banner both internally and externally.  When we unwind our fears and allow the integration of body and mind to take place all this changes.  We can listen to our own inner song and begin being.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

As we let the world in

As we let the world in, feeling each rock, tree and stream, we open, like a flower blossoming and shedding its pollen to the wind.  We are pregnant with the possibilities this brings.  Such a deep sharing is a gift to each of us.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

When we believe

When we believe that the world is hard, the world begins to demonstrate hardness.  When we believe life is great, the world begins to demonstrate greatness.  How to change from one point of view to another is what the processing of our feelings is all about.  Things begin to change immediately and we start to realize how flexible our world can be.  We realize that we really are ultimate creators, unlimited to the degree that we will allow ourselves to be.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

The fundamental delusion

The fundamental delusion of humanity is to suppose that I am here and you are out there. -Yasutani Roshi, Zen master (1885-1973)

When we are striving we know only striving, a need to be better than someone or something, and we see conflict everywhere.  This means the only thing to overcome is the view of separateness.  Through the act of “being”, we know everyone is us and separateness is the illusion.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

People are always talking

People are always talking about what is wrong, where harmony is lacking and where it seems like the world is against them.  But these very things are the arrows pointing at where we are holding onto our drama, where we are caught so to speak. So now we can go on complaining or we can feel.  The complaining we do allows us to stay in our old state, enjoying the same things over and over and making no headway in life.  The art of feeling starts us on the journey to freedom and a whole new life.  This is both the solution and the problem.  People want change but only if they can stay in their old habits that are the cause of the problem.  They fear the change will be painful.  If they would only take a chance they would find it is glorious.  ~ Alain & Jody Herriott
