Love

Give yourself a moment to think and you will realize there is really only one emotion in the universe — love.  Every other emotion that exists is love that is diminished or reduced.  When we allow ourselves to go into these diminished feelings they gradually unwind. This is a process of reintegration. As we reclaim what was lost, we discover that we are connected to a deep current of love that was always there whether we knew it or not. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Feeling

“You’ll be fine. You’re 25. Feeling [unsure] and lost is part of your path. Don’t avoid it. See what those feelings are showing you and use it. take a breath. You’ll be okay. Even if you don’t feel okay all the time.” —Louis C.K., Untitled 1

This is true no matter ones age (though at 25 it is fabulous advice).  The thing is the mind will still work it and worry it.  Why does it do that?  It is how we have been trained: to analyze, rationalize and to push aside those feeling.  Now, if we truly allow ourselves to feel, to let those feelings unwind, the mind relaxes and an integration of body and mind occurs.  The feeling of being lost goes away and we come into balance and feel great. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Insanity

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”  —Narcotics Anonymous (and probably lots of others)

This is the way most of us live.  We are constantly repeating habits and thoughts that keep us caught in our world.  We keep hoping that we can continue to live our life as we always have and that things will change in spite of our experiences.  This is where feeling comes in. When we begin to let ourselves feel we break the habitual patterns and unwind ourselves into a whole new way of living.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Move on

“In order to move on, you must understand why you felt what you did and why you no longer need to feel it.” —Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven

This is a common misconception.  It is built on the view that everything can be explained and additionally that it should be explained.  It is not necessary at all, in fact it is what often gets in the way; that need to explain it.   It only needs to be felt until it unwinds the grip that it has on you.  Then you are free, both to remember and to forget.  — Alain & Jody Herriott
