Awakening, experiencing Enlightenment

Awakening, the act of experiencing Enlightenment.  Awakening occurs as we process the conflicting feelings inside us.  On the other side of each unraveling is more of who we are. As each resistance is unwound we experience greater presence and once enough pieces are integrated we awaken.  Now we understand our unlimited state and our connection to everything is self evident.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Presence through feeling

Presence.  We hear so much about it and what it supposedly means.  There is also the idea of being “grounded” and how that goes hand in hand with presence.

Presence for us is a feeling that we experience.  It is a sense of being aware that we are settled into our bodies and really integrated with it.  This in turn gives us a sense of being grounded and connected not only to ourselves but to what is around us as well.  A deep abiding satisfaction and inner wholeness.  Feeling our feelings takes us there; it is a surprisingly short journey when we stop striving and start letting our concerns unfold themselves.  ~Alain and Jody Herriott

Getting by in Life

It is easy to fall into the lazy habit of avoiding feeling, just getting by in life.  When we choose to open to our feelings the fog that has been hiding who we are lifts and we discover the blue sky of clarity and understanding.  This is an ongoing process because cruising through life is so seductive.  When we spend even a little effort each day in feeling, life becomes surprisingly worthwhile.  Enjoy the journey!  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Feeling everything

It is a fabulous experience taking a day to feel everything that we can. The most mundane task takes on new meaning and we begin to see what it means to “be as a little child again.  So, we encourage you to feel as much as you can and to rediscover wonder in your world and joy in your heart.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Life, rules and regulations

As we go through life we are taught that there are all kinds of rules and regulations.  These restrictions reduce our ability to BE.  Each rule creates a stop in us, a holding or limitation.  However the way to be creative and comfortable in our life is to move beyond the rules, to see limitations as opportunities to break new ground.  In essence we learn to give ourselves permission to be amazing and in harmony with a world that others won’t even let themselves imagine.  Feeling creates the bridge from holding to openness, from limitation to creation.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

The Lightest Touch

The lightest touch is accepting, it opens the firmest door.  Feeling is like that.  It shows us the closed doors of our past and through the most gentle acts helps them to open, ushering us into a whole new world of possibility.  We invite you to feel, not in a pushing way but in a welcoming unfolding way.  Welcome to a path that never really ends, for each seeming difficulty is an opportunity to feel and heal.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

A complete world

Each of us thinks of ourselves as a world, complete unto ourselves. We see this world as separate, contained, and often judging the other worlds that seem to have it better or worse than we do.  As we process our emotions around these limiting thoughts and feelings we realize we are really a universe, connected and interacting with all the other worlds.  We are not separate, we are intrinsically linked.  As this realization occurs we become whole, compassionate and balanced.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Love

Give yourself a moment to think and you will realize there is really only one emotion in the universe — love.  Every other emotion that exists is love that is diminished or reduced.  When we allow ourselves to go into these diminished feelings they gradually unwind. This is a process of reintegration. As we reclaim what was lost, we discover that we are connected to a deep current of love that was always there whether we knew it or not. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Feeling

“You’ll be fine. You’re 25. Feeling [unsure] and lost is part of your path. Don’t avoid it. See what those feelings are showing you and use it. take a breath. You’ll be okay. Even if you don’t feel okay all the time.” —Louis C.K., Untitled 1

This is true no matter ones age (though at 25 it is fabulous advice).  The thing is the mind will still work it and worry it.  Why does it do that?  It is how we have been trained: to analyze, rationalize and to push aside those feeling.  Now, if we truly allow ourselves to feel, to let those feelings unwind, the mind relaxes and an integration of body and mind occurs.  The feeling of being lost goes away and we come into balance and feel great. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Insanity

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”  —Narcotics Anonymous (and probably lots of others)

This is the way most of us live.  We are constantly repeating habits and thoughts that keep us caught in our world.  We keep hoping that we can continue to live our life as we always have and that things will change in spite of our experiences.  This is where feeling comes in. When we begin to let ourselves feel we break the habitual patterns and unwind ourselves into a whole new way of living.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott
