Create

“By being natural and sincere, one often can create revolutions without having sought them.” —Christian Dior

This is the nature of creating a new reality by being present and genuine.  Because feelings are what motivate us on our journey through life, people are drawn to this essential rightness.  When it feels right we allow ourselves to take a massive step forward and all else pales before it.  — Alain & Jody Herriott

Rejoice

“There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice.” — John Calvin

This is a deep truth.  Everything is an opportunity to rejoice in our ability to experience creation in everything we do.  Here is the kicker.  Most of us experience this awareness intellectually, for as we age and experience life we are simply not as excited about the “little things”.  As we allow ourselves to feel our doubts and fears, really letting them unfold, we again begin to experience the little things as the wonder they truly are.  —Alain & Jody Herriott

Love

Give yourself a moment to think and you will realize there is really only one emotion in the universe — love.  Every other emotion that exists is love that is diminished or reduced.  When we allow ourselves to go into these diminished feelings they gradually unwind. This is a process of reintegration. As we reclaim what was lost, we discover that we are connected to a deep current of love that was always there whether we knew it or not. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Feel

“You learned to run from what you feel, and that’s why you have nightmares. To deny is to invite madness. To accept is to control.” — Megan Chance, The Spiritualist

In a way, this is very true, when we run from what we feel we create great internal imbalance.  When we learn to feel our feelings we unwind the madness. However there is nothing that needs to be accepted or settled for. Feeling is its own reward.  Allowing this we unwind and enter a state of presence; now we simply are. —Alain & Jody Herriott

Problems

Our problems are a mind set. They hold us in a grip that says all is lost.  As we go into feeling the grip lessens and things change for the better.  The old territory is what is producing the problem. The art of feeling allows us to replace this old territory with new and even unknown territory.  This is what gives us the opportunity to experience freedom and change.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Feeling

“You’ll be fine. You’re 25. Feeling [unsure] and lost is part of your path. Don’t avoid it. See what those feelings are showing you and use it. take a breath. You’ll be okay. Even if you don’t feel okay all the time.” —Louis C.K., Untitled 1

This is true no matter ones age (though at 25 it is fabulous advice).  The thing is the mind will still work it and worry it.  Why does it do that?  It is how we have been trained: to analyze, rationalize and to push aside those feeling.  Now, if we truly allow ourselves to feel, to let those feelings unwind, the mind relaxes and an integration of body and mind occurs.  The feeling of being lost goes away and we come into balance and feel great. ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Insanity

“Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.”  —Narcotics Anonymous (and probably lots of others)

This is the way most of us live.  We are constantly repeating habits and thoughts that keep us caught in our world.  We keep hoping that we can continue to live our life as we always have and that things will change in spite of our experiences.  This is where feeling comes in. When we begin to let ourselves feel we break the habitual patterns and unwind ourselves into a whole new way of living.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Move on

“In order to move on, you must understand why you felt what you did and why you no longer need to feel it.” —Mitch Albom, The Five People You Meet in Heaven

This is a common misconception.  It is built on the view that everything can be explained and additionally that it should be explained.  It is not necessary at all, in fact it is what often gets in the way; that need to explain it.   It only needs to be felt until it unwinds the grip that it has on you.  Then you are free, both to remember and to forget.  — Alain & Jody Herriott

Permission

“What would happen if you stopped fighting, and gave yourself permission to feel? Not just the good things, but everything?” — R.J. Anderson

This is our entry point.  Everything.  Everywhere we turn we have layers of resistance, the feelings that we are fighting. When we feel we give ourselves permission to return to our center.  Here we reclaim the pieces of ourselves that had been lost, leaving us too fragmented to experience who we really are: beings of unlimited potential and ability.  — Alain & Jody Herriott

The Mind

“The battle you are going through is not fueled by the words or actions of others; it is fueled by the mind that gives it importance.” —Shannon L. Alder

We are each day pushed by the mind.  It is constantly figuring, jockeying for position in to order to attempt to control its world as it sees it.  It has been trained in every way possible to do this even to its own detriment.  When we are allowed to truly feel, the mind reduces the fuel that feeds the internal conflict and the battle is over. — Alain & Jody Herriott
