Every experience in our world

Every experience and each thing we interact with in our world is part of the definition of self, of what we call “me”.  Many of these things and experiences seem limiting.  They don’t have to be, but through habit we stay in the same old rut.  Mind says: stay with what is familiar, ignore the feelings within you that something is wrong, and you will be safe.  The problem is that we are not safe, we are only used to the rut we have been experiencing.  When we allow feeling to join the mix, we gradually remove the walls of our old ruts and we again become free to live in balance and harmony.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Have you ever noticed, when we feel, we are motion

Have you ever noticed that when we really let ourselves feel, there is a sense of motion within us?  On the other hand when the mind thinks, the motion is stopped.  From this we learn that feeling creates movement, and too much mind creates stops.  Movement is the beginning of freedom and stops are what keep us locked in place.  We encourage you to feel; the movement will set you free and return you to Being.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Most people will tell you about their dreams

Most people will tell you about their dreams and in the same breath tell you about their limitations.  We choose to tell you about your dreams and how to become them.  In reality they are already yours, they are simply behind the fears that you have placed in your way.  The Tao te Ching says “if you would become whole, be partial.” In effect, the process of feeling the limitations (that which makes us feel partial) allows everything to unfold and you will be there.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

When we hold tightly to a thought

When we hold tightly to a thought or a belief with the mind we make an issue inflexible or unchangeable.   As we lighten the intensity of our focus, we allow for the possibility of change.  As we do this, we sense motion within us and change naturally unfolds.  One can take this to the nth degree and feel: I feel the boundary of what I call me, I allow it to unfold and in so doing become ME.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Supraliminal: of or relating to any stimulus

Supraliminal:  of or relating to any stimulus that is above the threshold of sensory awareness.  In psychology: being above the threshold of perception of a stimulus

As we unwind the issues that limit us, we become aware of states of being and stimuli that exceed previous levels of awareness.  We are actually able to experience life in a supraliminal way.  The extremely subtle becomes the new normal; we are now present and the world opens before us.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Wu Wei (Chinese, literally “non-doing”) is an important concept of Taoism and means natural action,

Wu Wei (Chinese, literally “non-doing”) is an important concept of Taoism and means natural action, or in other words, action that does not involve struggle or excessive effort. Wu wei is the cultivation of a mental state in which our actions are quite effortlessly in alignment with the flow of life.

This is why we do feeling work.  It is not that we are attempting to achieve an outcome that has these attributes.  It is because as we unwind that which limits us, we quite naturally find ourselves experiencing this.  Life truly does just flow and we find ourselves quite naturally in effortless harmony.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

In the last thought for the week we spoke of each moment being precious

In the last thought for the week we spoke of each moment being precious. If every moment is precious how can we live without worrying that we are wasting our life?  The limiting beliefs and the sensations they provide are the perfect entry point through which change can be facilitated.  Feelings are always with us.  While they may be pushed away through mind chatter, they are still there whenever we are willing to give ourselves access to them.  These issues then become the arrow to point us in the direction we should open.  And by allowing ourselves to feel them we find US, meaning our unfettered whole self; untainted by expectations and living in the present.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Ever feel emotionally frozen in your day

Ever feel emotionally frozen in your day? This is an example of feeling, an inner sensation. To change it requires no thought, just the willingness to feel.  As it changes you unwind, and you experience quiet, a mind at peace. This is the goal of almost every meditative model.  This is the beginning of being; it is worth every moment of your time.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Balance, where does it come from?

Balance, where does it come from?  Harmony– when it occurs within us we realize who we are.  We are simply a being, with nothing pushing us, nothing that “HAS” to be done.  Simply being, where every decision is an unfolding and every option brings us an opportunity to be even more.  We encourage you to feel.  It is truly the road to being wholly present.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Thought for the Week

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Most everyone that is on the path to self knowledge (the art of being) is doing so from the perspective of trying to achieve it.  Interestingly, it is this attitude that most holds us back from arriving at “Being”.  We must also remember that it is an evolving process, not just an end result. Many believe that we will arrive and that will be it.  In our experience, this is not the case, we are a constant evolution of awakening.  Today’s understanding is tomorrow stepping stone to more awareness and due to its subtlety, more Being.   Enjoy the journey.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott
