If you want to have everything you can’t hold onto anything.

If you want to have everything you can’t hold onto anything.  We want to be free, to have all our dreams come true.  This need inherently creates doubt or resistance, for we are taught that having everything is wrong or impossible.  Through feeling our feelings and unwinding the doubts that have been sowed throughout our life, we realize everything is already ours and there is nothing we need to hold on to at all.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Each day we get out of bed and contemplate the day

Each day we get out of bed and contemplate the day. That is what we are taught: consider, plan, execute and deal with each complication as it arises.  Why?  What if we let each day unfold, trusted ourselves enough to take things as they come and simply allowed ourselves to be?  This is the way life works when you allow yourself to feel. Life becomes less about about overcoming inner conflicts and more about unfolding within each passing moment of the day.   ~Alain & Jody Herriott

So what does it mean to feel?

So what does it mean to feel?  Ideally, feeling is an entry point to sensation that leads to an unwinding of anything within us that challenges us or feels disharmonious.  A normal day finds most of us partially or fully caught in our minds, struggling to deal with the “drama” of those feelings that never seem to resolve.  We often feel caught in a never ending spiral of upset.  When we actually let ourselves just feel, the drama unwinds.  It lessens a layer at a time until it is no longer there, much as a cloud disappears into a cloudless sky. It is no longer a part of our world and we find ourself at peace.  With a little practice this peace becomes part of our everyday existence and balance rules our days.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Today the wind blew in great gusts

Today the wind blew in great gusts. People said, “oh a storm is coming.”  I felt the feelings that came up and found my center.  People told me: tomorrow there are things that should cause me to worry.  I felt the feelings that arose and again returned to center.  Tomorrow will be the time to deal with tomorrow.  So I have learned; when things rise, I let them rise, when things fall I let things fall.  While many people yell out their upset, I feel me and find my center, at peace and in balance with my life.  We have this option at all times.  All it takes is the willingness to feel and unfold until we find ourself present and centered within.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Free from desire we realize the mystery

Free from desire we realize the mystery, caught in desire we see only the manifestations, but mystery and manifestations arise from the same source, the unformed. Paraphrased from the Tao te Ching

As we go through life there are many things we desire. We strive to have them in order to be happy; if we can’t have them we are unhappy.  Real happiness comes not from things, but from a sense of balance within ourselves.  Processing our feelings allows us to put all of this kind of thing into perspective.  We realize the nature of the mystery and in so doing realize we already have everything we will need.  All we need to do is open to it.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Enlightenment doesn’t care how you get there

“Enlightenment doesn’t care how you get there” –Thaddeus Golas

So many of us who want to be “enlightened” work hard at it.  Each day is spent trying to quiet the mind, doing things that are said to be spiritual and self sacrificing for a single taste of this amazing state.  What if it is simple?  What if it is born in the unwinding of every seeming limitation we encounter?  You see we do have the ability to experience this interconnection of everything and everyone.  It is only a feeling away.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

We say we want to be free, are you willing to change

We say we want to be free, yet so few of us are really willing to change in order to get there. For those who are willing to explore what it takes, follow this simple suggestion. Everything that makes you feel like you can’t be free is what takes you to freedom. Allow yourself to feel; keep feeling and you will change.  It is the true avenue to freedom and awakening.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Every experience we have can trigger us or open us

Every experience we have can trigger us or open us.  For most of us even the things that feel good have a background fear of things eventually going wrong.  The old saying “if something can go wrong it will go wrong” was built around that kind of thinking.  How do we change this constant fear?  We feel what most won’t, we feel that which triggers us.  Amazingly it will lead us to balance and happiness.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

Life is an art not an equation

Life is an art not an equation.  You can make all the plans you want but what occurs is an ebb and flow of being and doing.  The more being you have the more life is a beautiful dance.  The more doing you have the more life is a series of dramas that demonstrate an array of conflict and achievement that is hollow because it is so temporary.  Learning to feel our feelings is an integral part of that art and it is the avenue to being.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott

The soul usually knows what to do

“The soul usually knows what to do to heal itself. The challenge is to silence the mind.”–Unknown. This quote came via Rachel Sprinkle, thanks Rachel!!

This really is a key ingredient on the path to healing and a major component of the Wonder Method.  The art and action of feeling our inner conflict is the avenue to silencing our mind and as that occurs health and balance return to our life.  ~Alain & Jody Herriott
